About me in more details:

I spent a lot of time to learn and understand the expectations, values, c internal structure, company culture and cultural differences of global companies like ABN AMRO Bank, IBM, Allen & Overy LLP.

As a manager of these international organizations I myself was also experimenting with work-life balance, fighting for a greater efficiency, handling stress, burn-out, mid-life crisis. I felt the concern and fear during career changes, tasted success many times, and also the lack of it sometimes.

After leaving behind the global companies and resigning form my corporate citizenship I got acquainted with the harsh reality of the small entrepreneurs. Learned to stand up and restart, to find my internal strength at times of failures, to cope with them again and again. I had tough but useful breakdowns that taught me a lot about myself. Helped to build up a routine and experience I can use in my mentoring jobs, skills development trainings, executive and business coaching sessions.

As a coach I use my intuition a lot, and I am convinced that our blockages are usually emotional blockages. One cannot be clever enough to be perfectly safe from the influences of his own emotional life. If my brain could help me to overcome emotional blockages, I would have solved them all long time ago. Not even a doctoral degree could save me from my own irrationality to do stupid things, when emotions take the lead. This is also a useful experience I like to share with my clients

I can help efficiently those clients whose motivation and commitment reach the 50+1%, meaning that it is them who should want changes and development more, not me. I usually give feedback in a more direct way than other coaches and trainers do, but never formulate my messages tougher than my client is able to receive and accept them. Clients should be faced with the tricks they do with themselves. If they cheat themselves, and I support them in doing it, they will not be able to step ahead, leave behind the false images of themselves.

In addition, the cleverer is the client, the smarter in cheating himself and deceiving me, the coach. This sort of cheating cannot be left unnoticed, even if the client pays for keeping his pleasant and comfortable illusions and lies alive. Sticking to reality at any price, remaining brutally sincere and true with ourselves is key to both leadership credibility, and to efficient, successful coaching sessions.

Tibor Lukacs, PhDAbout me

executive coach

I have started as a coach at the age of 45, it took me some time to find my place in the world, and figure out what could be the job I have both enough talent and enough motivation for. I have been doing it for 12 years by now. I offer strong, direct and precisely worded feedback to my clients in my coaching, training and workshop sessions. They tell me what fights and troubles they are in, and I tell them what the games are they unconsciously play. I have a sharp eye to hidden motivation, covered conflicts, self-deception, and I dare to face clients with all that they are unaware of. I walked a long way. Studied history, international relations, communications, organization development, marketing and psychology at the Roland Eotvos University of Sciences in Budapest, the University of Oxford and the Central European University. Later on I also learned a lot of things autodidactic - by myself, maybe more than during my collage years. I was preparing for an academic career in the field of Humanities, holding a PhD. I worked as a university lecturer for some years, teaching communications, marketing and advertising. I gave this up for business, working for global companies in several projects aiming organizational redesign, change management, company culture development, internal communications. In the beginning as a manager, later on as mentor, trainer or coach. In these roles I have managed to work in almost all branches of business life… More details under the button...

From My ClientsTestimonials

  • Tibor was the first coach I worked with for an extended period. I was critical of coaching – I didn’t just want to hear cautious, open-ended questions, but also confrontational, direct statements. I was looking for someone who, with deep human insight, could strike a balance between support and constructive provocation. Someone who fosters self-reflection but is also willing and courageous enough to place his own insights appropriately within our conversations.
Throughout our six-month collaboration, I always felt he was thinking alongside me, following my logical leaps, remaining fully present, and even grasping the unspoken aspects of our discussions. Details never got lost between sessions, even if weeks passed in between, which made the process feel like continuous progress. Some realizations were immediately applicable in my daily life, while others took more time to unfold. I looked forward to every session, and although our 90-minute discussions were intense, I always left feeling energized. Thank you for the collaboration, and I wholeheartedly recommend Tibor – even to skeptics.

  • I met Tibor years ago while working together on an important training program. I was impressed by his expertise, deep understanding of people, and professional humility. Trust developed between us almost effortlessly, even though I am usually hesitant to open up. He has a way with people, which is likely why I later chose him as my coach. To this day, I vividly remember our first, highly impactful coaching session, as he was fully present with incredible attentiveness and support. With his help, I found it easier to navigate my journey to leadership, overcoming the obstacles of being a female leader in a male-dominated corporate environment. Meanwhile, he guided my team through several transformations and conflicts, helping us learn to truly communicate with each other. Today, I work with an exceptionally strong and effective team. We use a variety of methods tailored to my current challenges. Tibor creatively integrates coaching, psychology, family constellation therapy, psychodrama, and even provocation techniques. The ‘most dangerous’ side effect of this approach is that people actually achieve their dreams. I wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone with ambitions, those striving to achieve something, or anyone feeling stuck in life and uncertain about their next step.

  • After 20 years of leading a company, countless team-building and management development trainings, a Design Management degree, and individual leadership development, I reconnected with Tibor last year. I had known him from his earlier career in corporate communications. His transition into leadership coaching intrigued me, and though I believed I had matured and was fully developed, curiosity led me to embark on a coaching process with him. It quickly became apparent that this was something far beyond traditional advisory clichés. We dove deep into issues surprisingly quickly, and alongside vision development and structuring, I received strong, strikingly honest, yet constructive reflections in each session. With his vast knowledge, depth, and experience, Tibor posed timely, well-focused questions, gave insightful feedback, and provided confrontational yet productive observations that led me to profound personal growth. In some sessions, I felt I learned more about myself, my leadership style, and my circumstances than I had in weeks or even months elsewhere.

  • I chose Tibor as a coach because I appreciated his directness and the realistic, life-like exercises he leads during training sessions. He has a masterful way of helping us see the strengths and weaknesses of the team—broken down individually for each of us. Nothing important escapes his attention; he notices everything, and his insights have real depth. Yet, he manages to reflect all this back with such empathy and acceptance that I, and everyone else, experience it as support rather than criticism. I see, hear, and feel the same things he does—our values align—but he somehow articulates the essence in a more vivid and understandable way, so it hits hard and sinks in immediately. Naturally, authentically, and effortlessly. We began our coaching journey during one of the most challenging periods of my leadership career—and my life. As a result, I came out of it stronger, with deeper self-awareness. I managed to let go of many habits and routines that had been holding me back from being truly effective. I found a path to my inner reserves and discovered how much more strength I actually had. I started saying no, setting boundaries where necessary. I learned how to stand up for myself, express my opinions, and represent myself effectively. I make braver decisions now and speak up more openly—for the good of the company and for myself. It felt like I came to all these realizations on my own—and I’m proud of that—though in reality, the coach was always there in the background, offering just the right amount of guidance at just the right times. Sometimes, he crossed my boundaries harshly, even stomped on them. Other times, he ruthlessly mirrored back my rigidity. And occasionally, he just gently questioned my naive ideas. I often felt ridiculous, but he never laughed at me. Somehow, I believed him when he said no one is perfect—and that meant I could start accepting myself as I am. I understood this logically quite early on; believing it was the hard part. I recommend Tibor to those who want to see clearly, who are not afraid of Life, of facing themselves, or of change. For the brave ones.

  • Working with Tibor has greatly helped me connect more openly and clearly with myself—and through that, with others as well. I believe the time we spent together was extremely valuable and insightful. I sincerely recommend working with him.

  • Tibor is a highly professional expert who led coaching processes with several members of our team. Fortunately, I also decided to take part, so I have firsthand experience working with him. Right from the beginning, his calm yet approachable style and incredibly sharp observational skills stood out. His work within our company proved to be a complete success, which I believe is due to how he combined his abilities with thoroughly considered and personalized theoretical and practical coaching tools. While I wasn’t privy to the details of his individual conversations with colleagues, I certainly saw the results: we ended up with more balanced, confident people who are now able to work together with significantly less friction than before. Personally, I benefited by gaining a clearer understanding of myself and my role in the company, and by better grasping both the conscious and unconscious processes and conflicts among colleagues. I believe coaching is an essential tool for any well-functioning business, and Tibor turned out to be the perfect choice for us—someone I can recommend with complete confidence.

  • Tibor supported me during one of the most difficult periods of both my professional and personal life. I was emotionally deeply attached to my then workplace—it was my first job, with a beautiful career path and amazing professional challenges—but I felt it was time to move on. I was 33, and I knew that if I didn’t take that step then, I might never have a family. But is it really possible to have both a career and a family? Tibor accompanied me at the beginning of this journey. We met for ten sessions, and I genuinely looked forward to every one of our coaching conversations. Beyond helping me with advice on making that big decision, he also offered concrete examples and practical solutions to deal with everyday challenges. From our very first meeting, we had that “chemistry”: he was confident and honest, and he quickly tuned into my thoughts. Tibor isn’t the cautious type—he speaks his mind—but he does so in a way that builds rather than tears down or hurts. Our sessions were dynamic; I never felt like we were stuck on a topic for too long. There was a great balance between processing professional and personal challenges—while the focus remained on my career, he supported my personal goals as well. Our work together played a major role in helping me find balance between work and personal life, and I managed to grow professionally while also getting my personal life on track. I recommend Tibor to those who are not afraid to face their own known blocks—not those looking for a sympathetic friend, but for a grounded, realistic professional guide.
